Veterans in the community have an opportunity to connect with valuable support services when representatives from Veterans Stand Together visit the La Mirada Activity Center to meet with local veterans and provide information about available programs.
Veterans Stand Together (VST) is a nonprofit organization operated by veterans who are dedicated to assisting fellow service members as they transition into civilian life. The organization works to address many of the challenges veterans may face, including homelessness, access to mental health resources, long-term housing stability, and vocational training opportunities.
One of VST’s primary missions is helping veterans navigate the often-complex process of accessing their earned benefits. Many veterans are unaware of the programs and support available to them, and VST staff members work directly with individuals to guide them through the application process and connect them with the appropriate agencies and services.
VST also works closely with the Veteran Peer Access Network (VPAN), a statewide initiative designed to provide peer-to-peer support for veterans. Through VPAN, veterans can connect with trained peer specialists who share similar life experiences and understand the unique challenges that can come with military service.
The Veteran Peer Access Network helps connect veterans with a range of resources, including counseling and wellness services, employment programs, housing assistance, and community support. By offering guidance from fellow veterans, the program helps reduce isolation while empowering individuals to access the services they need.
During the outreach visit at the La Mirada Activity Center, veterans will be able to speak directly with representatives, ask questions, and receive informational materials about available programs and services. Family members are also welcome to attend and learn more about the resources available to support veterans and their households.
Community leaders encourage veterans of all ages to take advantage of the opportunity to learn about programs that can provide practical assistance, guidance, and long-term support.
For many veterans, connecting with organizations like Veterans Stand Together and the Veteran Peer Access Network can be an important step toward accessing benefits, building stability, and strengthening their connection to the community they served to protect.
