VFW Post 9148 has long served as a gathering place for local veterans and their families. Tucked just off the main streets of La Mirada, the post has for decades provided a steady source of connection, camaraderie, and support for those who have served overseas. Like many longstanding community institutions, the post has often carried out its mission quietly, with its work not always visible to the broader public. As members look to the future, they remain deeply grateful to the veterans and supporters who came before them – whose dedication, service, and leadership built the foundation that sustains the post today.

Looking ahead, VFW Post 9148 has set a clear goal for 2026: to expand partnerships and collaborations with the City of La Mirada, as well as with fellow nonprofits and neighborhood organizations. Through these efforts, the post hopes to take a more active role in community events and local initiatives. While supporting veterans remains at the heart of its mission, Post 9148 is equally committed to being a welcoming place for veterans, families, and neighbors alike.

At its core, VFW Post 9148 is a close-knit group united by shared service and mutual support, a community that continues to grow as new members join both the Post and its Auxiliary. Eligible veterans are invited to connect with a circle of peers who understand their experiences and offer encouragement, friendship, and continued purpose beyond military service.

The VFW Auxiliary is enthusiastically supporting this renewed outreach, with a focus on engaging residents through community-centered activities. In the coming year, the Auxiliary plans to revive monthly community dinners, host a rummage sale, and organize a Mother’s Day tea. Each event is designed to strengthen neighborhood ties and invite eligible participants to learn more about the Auxiliary’s mission. Membership is open to family members of those who served overseas, offering a meaningful way to honor loved ones while supporting veterans and their families. New members are encouraged to get involved, share ideas, and help shape the post’s future building on its proud history while creating a lasting legacy.

In addition to its forward-looking goals, VFW Post 9148 will celebrate a significant milestone this year: its 67th anniversary. A commemorative celebration is planned for May, with hopes of welcoming back former members, longtime supporters, and friends of the post to reflect on shared history and honor more than six decades of service.

As VFW Post 9148 looks toward 2026, its mission remains clear -to honor those who built the post, support today’s veterans and their families, and strengthen connections with new members and community partners. With deep respect for its past and optimism for the future, VFW Post 9148 remains committed to serving veterans and enriching the La Mirada community for generations to come.
