Well, this is embarrassing. Dear Casey Has Left the Building. Meet Olivia.
Last month, we proudly introduced you to Dear Casey, our brand-new anonymous advice columnist.
We told you she was a longtime La Mirada resident. We told you she was ready to tackle your questions about relationships, family, friendships, work, neighbors and all those wonderfully awkward situations life throws our way. We gave you the ground rules. We gave you the email address. We even told you to start sending questions. And then somebody apparently looked at the name at the top of the newspaper … The Olive Grove News.
Olive Grove. Olive. Olivia. How did we miss this?
So, after an extensive executive search lasting approximately 37 seconds, we made a difficult personnel decision. We fired Casey. Fortunately, we found her replacement immediately.
Please welcome Olivia, the new—and suspiciously familiar—voice behind Dear Olivia. For the record, Casey is taking the news remarkably well. In fact, nothing else is changing.
Same anonymous local columnist. Same practical perspective. Same promise to be thoughtful when thoughtful is called for, lighthearted when life gets ridiculous, and candid when somebody probably needs to hear it. Only the name has changed. And we have to admit… Dear Olivia feels like she was meant to live in The Olive Grove News all along.
Even better, Olivia isn’t arriving alone. We’re delighted to welcome Happy Home Helpers as the official sponsor of Dear Olivia, helping us bring a little practical advice, humor and community conversation to these pages each month.
So, if you sent a question to Dear Casey, don’t worry—it didn’t disappear during the hostile takeover. Olivia has it. And if you haven’t sent one yet, what are you waiting for?
Relationships. Family. Friends. Work. Neighbors. Etiquette. Adult children. Changing seasons of life. Or that situation you’ve been replaying in your head wondering, “Am I the problem here?”
Olivia is ready.
Send your question to theolivegrovenews@gmail.com with “Dear Olivia” in the subject line. You don’t have to use your real name. Sign it Confused in Cerritos, Had Enough in La Habra, Trying to Be Nice in Norwalk—or whatever fits your predicament.
Now that we’ve finally gotten her name right…
Dear Olivia, take it away.
