“Love a Tree” Poster Contest Winners Recognized

Winners of the City of La Mirada’s annual “Love a Tree” Poster Contest have been announced.  Posters were judged for creativity and originality by the La Mirada Senior Council and the Community Services Commission.  More than 650 elementary through high school students from La Mirada submitted posters recognizing the importance of planting trees in the community.

Winners and their schools include:

Kindergarten – Melissa Santacruz – Escalona Elementary School
First Grade – Jonah Koo – Heights Christian School
Second Grade – Evelyn Chon – Eastwood Elementary School
Third Grade – Aiden Kim – Eastwood Elementary School
Fourth Grade – Ethan Koo – Heights Christian School
Fifth Grade – Aiden Choi – Heights Christian School
Sixth Grade – Scarlette Rivera – St. Paul of the Cross School
Seventh Grade – Devin Gonzalez – St. Paul of the Cross School
Eighth Grade – Liam Cervantez – St. Paul of the Cross School
High School – Aniya Correa – El Camino High School

The “Love a Tree” poster contest recognizes the importance of planting trees in the community and takes place around the Arbor Day holiday.
