Cerritos College administrator Jannet Malig has been appointed president of the California Transit Training Consortium (CTTC), a statewide organization that provides workforce education and training resources for 42 public transit agencies across California.
Malig currently serves as the Advanced Transportation and Logistics Center Sector Navigator at Cerritos College. In her new role, she will help strengthen partnerships between California’s educational institutions and public transit agencies while guiding workforce development efforts for an industry undergoing rapid technological change.
As president, Malig plans to expand CTTC’s educational programs beyond zero-emission vehicle technologies to include a broader range of technical training and professional development opportunities. The goal is to ensure transit professionals are prepared to meet the evolving needs of California’s public transportation systems.
Malig joined Cerritos College in 2009 as director of the Advanced Transportation Technology & Renewable (ATTR) Center. She later served as deputy sector navigator for Los Angeles and Orange counties before being appointed the statewide Advanced Transportation and Logistics Sector Navigator in 2018.
Throughout her career, Malig has led several major workforce initiatives benefiting students, educators, and the transportation industry. She secured a $1 million workforce development grant that created curriculum for electric school bus technology and trained college faculty who subsequently prepared 97 technicians across California.
She also helped secure a $3.5 million grant from the California Energy Commission to establish zero-emission vehicle career technical education programs at 52 California high schools. The initiative has introduced more than 5,000 students to careers in advanced transportation technologies.
