There is something special about a restaurant that feels personal from the moment you walk in.

At La Casa del Cocinero in La Mirada, every plate is more than just a meal. It is part of a story rooted in family, tradition, and the rich flavors of Guadalajara.

The name La Casa del Cocinero means “The House of the Chef” in English, and that meaning is at the heart of the restaurant. It reflects a place where food is prepared with care, guests are welcomed like family, and every dish carries the warmth of home.

For owner Helena Ochoa and her family, La Casa del Cocinero is more than a restaurant. It is the fulfillment of a lifelong passion for cooking, serving, and bringing people together around the table.

Helena’s love of cooking began in her childhood in Guadalajara, where food was a way to care for family, celebrate culture, and create lasting memories. Preparing traditional dishes for loved ones became more than a task. It became part of who she was. That passion eventually became the foundation for La Casa del Cocinero.

Today, Helena and her family bring that same heart into the restaurant every day. Every recipe is prepared with fresh ingredients, authentic flavors, and a genuine love for cooking. Guests are welcomed with warmth, hospitality, and the kind of food that makes people feel at home.

The menu reflects the flavors of Guadalajara and the traditions that inspired the restaurant, with favorites such as carne en su jugo, tortas ahogados, tamales, tacos, enchiladas, breakfast dishes, family meals, and more. La Casa del Cocinero also offers catering for parties, office lunches, family gatherings, and special events.

Now, the La Mirada community is invited to help celebrate a very special milestone.  La Casa del Cocinero will host its One Year Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, July 18, beginning at noon, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 PM.

The celebration will include food and drink specials, mariachis, folklorico dancers, special guests, and a festive afternoon for the whole community to enjoy.

For Helena Ochoa and her family, this anniversary is about more than marking one year in business. It is a celebration of family, culture, community, and every guest who has walked through the doors and supported the restaurant during its first year.

“Every dish tells a story,” and at La Casa del Cocinero, that story begins with Helena’s passion for cooking and her desire to share the taste of Guadalajara with La Mirada.

Whether you are stopping in for breakfast, meeting friends for lunch, bringing the family for dinner, planning catering for your next event, or joining the anniversary celebration, La Casa del Cocinero invites you to experience fresh Mexican flavor, friendly service, and local hospitality.

La Casa del Cocinero is located at 15711 Imperial Hwy. in La Mirada, in Green Hills Plaza at Imperial and Santa Gertrudes.  For questions or catering information, call (562) 941-5220.
