Members of VFW Post 9148 spent part of their day Sunday May 31, giving back to the community by hosting a special barbecue lunch for residents of La Mirada Heights Senior Living Community as part of the annual VFW Day of Service.
Volunteers from the post rolled up their sleeves, fired up the grill, and served lunch to residents while enjoying an afternoon of conversation and fellowship. The event reflected the VFW’s ongoing commitment to service, not only to veterans but to the broader community as well.
Post members expressed their appreciation to the residents and staff of La Mirada Heights for their warm welcome and hospitality. The gathering provided an opportunity to build connections, share stories, and create meaningful moments with local seniors.
“From firing up the grill to serving meals, it was an honor to spend time with the residents and dedicated staff who make La Mirada Heights such a special place,” representatives from VFW Post 9148 shared. “Thank you for welcoming us and allowing us this opportunity. We can’t wait to do it again.”
The VFW Day of Service encourages posts across the nation to participate in volunteer projects that strengthen communities and demonstrate the organization’s continued dedication to service beyond military duty.
For the members of VFW Post 9148, the afternoon was a reminder that some of the most meaningful acts of service happen right in their own backyard.
