Visitors to the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts will soon have another reason to arrive early and stay a little longer.
During its May 12 meeting, the La Mirada City Council approved Contract Change Order No. 3 for the construction of the theatre’s new Cabaret Lounge, authorizing an additional $37,773.18 for the ongoing project. The approval marks another step forward in the City’s effort to enhance the patron experience at one of Southern California’s premier performing arts venues.
The Cabaret Lounge is being developed as a welcoming gathering space where theatre guests can relax before performances, during intermission, or after the curtain falls. The project is part of a broader effort to modernize and improve amenities at the theatre while maintaining the high-quality experience audiences have come to expect.
The La Mirada Theatre has long been recognized as a cultural centerpiece for the community, attracting patrons from throughout Los Angeles and Orange counties. In recent years, the venue has hosted acclaimed productions ranging from Broadway-style musicals to concerts, comedy performances, and special events.
City officials noted that change orders are common during major construction projects, particularly when unforeseen conditions, design refinements, or operational improvements are identified during the building process. The approved change order will help ensure the project continues moving forward while meeting the needs of theatre patrons and staff.
The addition of a dedicated lounge area reflects a growing trend among performing arts venues to create more immersive and social experiences for guests. Beyond serving as a hospitality space, the Cabaret Lounge is expected to provide opportunities for special events, receptions, and community gatherings connected to theatre programming.
As construction progresses, residents and theatre supporters can look forward to a new amenity designed to complement the theatre’s reputation as one of the region’s leading performing arts destinations.
The investment underscores the City’s continued commitment to supporting arts and culture while enhancing facilities that draw visitors to La Mirada throughout the year.
