The La Mirada Coordinating Council continues to serve as a valuable forum where local organizations, service groups, schools, churches, and community leaders share updates and opportunities that help strengthen our community.
Grace EV Free Church announced that registration is now open for its annual “Crack the Case” Kids Adventure Week, taking place June 15–19. Organizers anticipate welcoming approximately 350–400 children and will provide dinner each evening as part of the program. For registration and information, visit www.kidsadventureweek.org.
Neighborhood Life Church is preparing for a Father’s Day BBQ on June 21 at 12104 Los Coyotes Avenue in La Mirada. For details, call (562) 201-9066. The church will also host its own Kids Adventure Week June 23–26 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., with dinner served each evening.
The Arts Colony of La Mirada reported that members will once again provide face painting during this summer’s Concerts in the Park series, one of the organization’s important annual fundraisers. Planning is also underway for the popular “Mirrors of the Mind” event scheduled for November 2026.
The Friends of the La Mirada Library shared that recent book sale efforts raised more than $3,000 to support library programs and book purchases. The group also reminded residents that the library’s popular Seed Library remains available to the community.
The La Mirada Chamber of Commerce provided updates on several upcoming activities, including the July 2 Chamber Breakfast at the 12/Sixty Restaurant. Planning is also underway for a future Mariachi Festival in 2027, while discussions continue regarding potential special guests connected to FIFA-related activities. Summer mixers and networking events are scheduled throughout the season and can be found on the Chamber website.
Representatives from the City of La Mirada highlighted several upcoming events and projects, including the June 6 Drone Show, which will require temporary closures along La Mirada Boulevard. The City’s annual fireworks celebration will take place July 3 at La Mirada Regional Park, and the Summer Concert Series begins June 11 at Neff Park. Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center is now open for the season. City officials also announced that the installation of a new mayor will take place on July 14, and that banners recognizing 16 La Mirada High School students will soon be displayed along Adelfa Drive. The city also recently honored recipients of its Older Citizen Award program.
Volunteers on Patrol (VOPS) continue to provide valuable assistance at major community events and will support both the June 6 Drone Show and the City’s July 3 Independence Day celebration.
Representatives from local Scouting programs reported strong participation in Memorial Day observances, including the placement of approximately 90,000 flags at cemeteries and memorial sites honoring veterans. Local Girl Scouts are currently conducting a Savers Donation Drive through June 20. The Kiwanis Club of La Mirada announced the awarding of multiple $1,000 scholarships to local students, along with four laptop computers presented to deserving recipients.
The La Mirada Community Foundation reported awarding seven scholarships to outstanding local students this year.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9148 announced a public Line Dancing Fundraiser scheduled for June 28. Admission is $20 per person.
Representatives from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shared information about participation in a special Tabernacle Choir event taking place June 26 in Hacienda Heights.
The La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts will open its production of Anastasia on June 5.
Love La Mirada announced a free Sunset Yoga in the Park event on Saturday, June 20, beginning at 6:45 p.m. The organization is also preparing for its annual community-wide Day of Service on October 17, with plans to make this year’s event the largest yet. Members also reported a successful neighborhood barbecue on May 14 and a Mini Day of Service held May 16.
Several organizations concluded by reminding residents about upcoming volunteer opportunities and congratulating the City of La Mirada and Splash! on another successful Volunteer Appreciation Day.
