Grace EV Free Church announced that registration is now open for its annual “Crack the Case” Kids Adventure Week, taking place June 15–19. Organizers anticipate welcoming approximately 350–400 children and will provide dinner each evening as part of the program. For registration and information, visit www.kidsadventureweek.org.

Neighborhood Life Church is preparing for a Father’s Day BBQ on June 21 at 12104 Los Coyotes Avenue in La Mirada. For details, call (562) 201-9066. The church will also host its own Kids Adventure Week June 23–26 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., with dinner served each evening.

The Arts Colony of La Mirada reported that members will once again provide face painting during this summer’s Concerts in the Park series, one of the organization’s important annual fundraisers. Planning is also underway for the popular “Mirrors of the Mind” event scheduled for November 2026.

The Friends of the La Mirada Library shared that recent book sale efforts raised more than $3,000 to support library programs and book purchases. The group also reminded residents that the library’s popular Seed Library remains available to the community.

The La Mirada Chamber of Commerce provided updates on several upcoming activities, including the July 2 Chamber Breakfast at the 12/Sixty Restaurant. Planning is also underway for a future Mariachi Festival in 2027, while discussions continue regarding potential special guests connected to FIFA-related activities. Summer mixers and networking events are scheduled throughout the season and can be found on the Chamber website.

Representatives from the City of La Mirada highlighted several upcoming events and projects, including the June 6 Drone Show, which will require temporary closures along La Mirada Boulevard. The City’s annual fireworks celebration will take place July 3 at La Mirada Regional Park, and the Summer Concert Series begins June 11 at Neff Park. Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center is now open for the season. City officials also announced that the installation of a new mayor will take place on July 14, and that banners recognizing 16 La Mirada High School students will soon be displayed along Adelfa Drive. The city also recently honored recipients of its Older Citizen Award program.

Volunteers on Patrol (VOPS) continue to provide valuable assistance at major community events and will support both the June 6 Drone Show and the City’s July 3 Independence Day celebration.

Representatives from local Scouting programs reported strong participation in Memorial Day observances, including the placement of approximately 90,000 flags at cemeteries and memorial sites honoring veterans. Members also reported a successful neighborhood barbecue on May 14 and a Mini Day of Service held May 16.

Several organizations concluded by reminding residents about upcoming volunteer opportunities and congratulating the City of La Mirada and Splash! on another successful Volunteer Appreciation Day.
