Love La Mirada is deeply grateful for the extraordinary generosity and dedication of our volunteers throughout 2025.
Last year, our community came together in remarkable ways. During two large service days, hundreds of neighbors rolled up their sleeves to paint four homes, landscape nearly ten more, and power-wash five, all for seniors and veterans. Volunteers also restored horse trails, beautified the bridge at Oak Creek Park, collected trash along Creek Park, assembled hygiene kits for neighbors experiencing homelessness, prepared goodie bags for seniors, and planted greenery at a local school.
One especially moving act of kindness stood out: a volunteer installed a wheelchair ramp for a resident battling cancer, made possible through the generosity of our caring community. It was a powerful reminder that service is not just about projects, but about people.
We were deeply touched by the spirit of those who stepped forward with open hearts getting dirty, sweaty, and working hard for neighbors they had never met. Their willingness to serve, whether in large efforts or quiet individual acts, brought our community closer together and uplifted those in need. It reminded us all of the incredible strength found in compassion.
In recognition of this spirit, Love La Mirada proudly honored nine Neighborhood Heroes, those everyday individuals who go above and beyond for others celebrating their generosity and commitment to service.
Looking ahead to 2026, we are excited to build on this momentum with the launch of Senior Connections, a new program supporting seniors who live alone or far from family. Volunteers, individuals, families, or students accompanied by a parent will commit to a once-a-month visit, sharing conversation, smiles, and a small treat provided by Love La Mirada. It is a simple act with a meaningful impact, reminding seniors that they are valued, remembered, and loved.
We are inspired by the dedication of our volunteers and are profoundly grateful to every neighbor who gave their time, energy, and care in 2025. To get involved with Senior Connections or other volunteer opportunities, follow Love La Mirada on social media or email LoveLaMirada@gmail.com.
