National Night Out [NNO] is an annual occurrence, the first Tuesday in August. NNO strives to enhance relationships between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. It provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together through positive events and interaction.
Millions of neighbors take part in NNO across the nation by hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.
La Mirada’s annual National Night Out event was held Thursday, August 3 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at La Mirada Regional Park during the Concert Under the Stars event.
The National Association of Town Watch sponsors National Night Out, which celebrates the City’s ongoing commitment to maintaining public safety and quality of life as its top priority.
National Night Out is a community building campaign designed to enhance participation in local anti-crime programs and strengthen partnerships between the community and law enforcement. Representatives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff ’s Department, La Mirada Public Safety Team, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Ham Watch, and the Neighborhood Watch program will be in attendance.
The White House calls NNO “A chance to bring neighborhoods together with the men and women who protect them. The safety of our communities depends on both law enforcement and the citizens they serve, and these events enhance that cooperation.”
