After thoughtful deliberation and input, the Board of Education voted on March 24, 2025, to move Southeast Academy to the John Glenn High School campus. Various factors were considered in this decision including the statewide challenge of declining enrollment and the aging facilities at the current SEA location, but most importantly the preservation of the Southeast Academy experience.
A transition plan will be collaboratively decided in the coming weeks. However, there will be no change to the daily routine of SEA or any scheduled events for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year. The District will provide all of the necessary resources to make this a smooth transition to maintain the integrity of the Southeast Academy program.
Change can be difficult and the Board acknowledges the mixed feelings surrounding this decision. The aim is to maintain the uniqueness and identity of Southeast Academy as they transition to a different location. The input of the communities of Southeast Academy and John Glenn will be integral to a smooth transition. This input will involve cadets and students, their families, staff, community members, and the administration of SEA and Glenn. The District will also continue to support the mission and vision of both Southeast Academy and John Glenn High School.
We appreciate your dedication to our students and your continued partnership as we navigate this together. The foundation of Southeast Academy is not a location; we are defined by the culture we instill in our cadets. We will work as a team to uphold the core values of Southeast Academy: Strength, Endurance and Achievement because, “Failure is not an option!”
