In September of 2021 the La Mirada City Council held a citywide survey exploring options for a new farmer’s market in the community.
Similar to various other markets the plan was to hold it in conjunction with the City’s summer Concerts Under the Stars. The idea was to feature vendors selling produce, ready-to-eat food, specialty items and crafts.
The La Mirada Farmers market now has a permanent home at the Civic Center Plaza adjacent to City Hall and Library and is held every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the parking area north of the Activity Center within the Civic Center.
The Farmers’ Markets Association is host to certified farm-to-market items for the community from local farmers, and producers. The market offers fresh fruits and vegetables direct from farmers, grass-fed beef, fresh fish, flowers, eggs, local honey, and gourmet artisan food specialties.
Golden Heart Family Farms offered fresh berries, vegetables, eggs, and seasonal flowers. The Farmers Market also showcased other vendors from delicious cakes, cupcakes, and mini cakes to handcrafted candles; Latin-inspired cold brew coffees, and freshly cold-pressed blended fruit juices.
They are a Certified Farmers Market, which means the farmers sell only what they grow, and are often inspected by Agricultural Department to ensure they’re managing their harvest with chemical-free products.
Former Teacher and Guidance Counselor at NLM USD Cathy Alvarez remarked “I bought my beautiful yellow roses from Grocery Outlet. There were other beautiful flowers and plants at great prices. I just Love La Mirada Farmers Market because they have jewelry, pupusas, and kettle corn too…my kind of shopping.”
The new Farmers Market is located in the La Mirada Civic Center Campus at 13801 La Mirada Boulevard in La Mirada, California. Come early to grab your fresh vegetables and a prime parking spot.
