“Love a Tree” Poster Contest Winners Recognized

La Mirada Mayor Anthony Otero with third grade winner Ethan Koo of Heights Christian School.

Winners of the City of La Mirada’s annual “Love a Tree” Poster Contest have been announced.  Posters were judged for creativity and originality by the La Mirada Senior Council and the Community Services Commission.  More than 500 elementary through high school students from La Mirada submitted posters recognizing the importance of planting trees in the community.

Winners and their schools include:

Kindergarten –  Catalina Gonzalez – Beatitudes of Our Lord School     

Kindergarten – Chloe Jin – Escalona Elementary School       

First Grade – Naya Santana – Saint Paul of the Cross School

Second Grade – Valerie Ortiz – Escalona Elementary School       

Third Grade – Ethan Koo – Heights Christian School   

Fourth Grade – Aiden Choi – Heights Christian School

Fourth Grade – Alice Lee – Eastwood Elementary School

Fifth Grade – Naia Larson – La Pluma Elementary School

Sixth Grade – Ethan Hall – Beatitudes of Our Lord School

Sixth Grade – Avan Youn – Beatitudes of Our Lord School

Seventh Grade – Lily Pang – Beatitudes of Our Lord School

Eighth Grade – Joshua Herrera – Saint Paul of the Cross School

High School – Ashley Flores – El Camino High School     

The “Love a Tree” poster contest recognizes the importance of planting trees in the community and takes place around the Arbor Day holiday.
