The City of La Mirada reminds the community that the La Mirada Public Safety Team will take a “zero-tolerance” approach to enforcing fireworks and party regulations. The Public Safety Team will strictly enforce this policy, and will issue a $1,000 fine to individuals caught discharging or in possession of illegal fireworks.
The discharging of fireworks on City-owned property, including parks, streets and sidewalks, is strictly prohibited. The use of “safe and sane fireworks” is permitted and only allowed on Tuesday, July 4 from 3 to 10 p.m. Trespassing laws will be enforced and individuals who discharge fireworks or conduct celebrations on private property without the owner’s permission will be cited.
The City also reminds residents of La Mirada that streets may not be blocked to accommodate parties or large gatherings. Those hosting large parties that disturb the peace may be cited for the costs of dispersing the party. Public drinking of alcoholic beverages and public intoxication are also prohibited. All laws will be proactively enforced.
Residents are highly encouraged to take an active part in reporting criminal activity. If you observe illegal fireworks or other criminal activity, call the La Mirada Community Sheriff’s Station at (562) 902-2960.
