Love La Mirada is founded on the belief that neighbors caring for neighbors strengthens the entire city, Love La Mirada exists to meet practical needs while nurturing meaningful human connection. Its mission is simple yet profound: to serve with dignity, restore hope, and build unity across La Mirada through hands-on service. The vision that fuels this work is a city where no one feels forgotten, and where kindness is not an exception, but a shared value.
Throughout the past year, that vision came vividly to life.
During two large community service days, hundreds of volunteers rolled up their sleeves to paint four homes, landscape nearly ten more, and power-wash five—providing vital support to seniors and veterans. Beyond these major projects, neighbors restored horse trails, beautified the bridge at Oak Creek Park, collected trash along Creek Park, assembled hygiene kits for individuals experiencing homelessness, prepared thoughtful goodie bags for seniors, and planted greenery at a local school.
One especially moving act of kindness stood out as a quiet testament to Love La Mirada’s heart: a volunteer constructed a wheelchair ramp for a resident battling cancer. Made possible through the generosity of the community, this single act reminded everyone involved that service is not only about projects, it is about people, dignity, and meeting needs with empathy.
Time and again, volunteers showed up with open hearts; getting dirty, sweaty, and working hard for neighbors they had never met. Their willingness to serve, whether through large-scale efforts or small, personal gestures, brought the community closer together and uplifted those who needed it most. These moments revealed the incredible strength that emerges when compassion becomes collective.
In recognition of this spirit, Love La Mirada proudly honored nine Neighborhood Heroes, everyday individuals who quietly go above and beyond for others. Their stories reflect the organization’s belief that leadership lives in kindness, and that meaningful change often begins with ordinary people choosing to care.
Looking ahead to 2026, Love La Mirada is building on this momentum with the launch of Senior Connections, a new program designed to support seniors who live alone or far from family. Volunteers, whether individuals, families, or students accompanied by a parent, will commit to a once-a-month visit, offering conversation, companionship, and a small treat provided by Love La Mirada. It is a simple commitment with a powerful impact, reminding seniors that they are valued, remembered, and deeply loved.
The La Mirada Chamber of Commerce is proud to name Love La Mirada as its 2026 Community Impact Partner, recognizing an organization whose work reflects the very best of our city’s spirit. Together, we look forward to a year rooted in service, connection, and care.
Love La Mirada remains inspired by its volunteers and profoundly grateful to every neighbor who gave their time, energy, and heart in 2025.
