La Mirada Chamber of Commerce hosted the 3rd annual La Mirada State of the City luncheon on Thursday, January 25 at the La Mirada Golf Course in front of business leaders and representatives from local, state, and federal governments.
The event began with an invocation from Reverand Dave Newman, lead pastor at Neighborhood Life Church, and the pledge of allegiance lead by VFW Post 9148 Commander Dr. Robert Cancio and Sr. Vice Commander Dan Siwak. A group from Southern California’s premiere men’s acappella chorus Masters of Harmony sang the national anthem as well as two additional songs during the event.
Jayson Truong, current president of the La Mirada Chamber and master of ceremonies of the event, introduced a series of guest speakers including Congresswoman Linda Sanchez, Mayor Steve De Ruse, City Manager Jeff Boynton, and Los Angeles Sheriff Captain Rick Conti.
The event concluded with a special announcement from Loren Penner of Discover La Mirada. Discover La Mirada and the Chamber presented attendees with a copy of the premiere issue of Discover La Mirada Magazine debuting this spring. The magazine is the only print and digital lifestyle magazine focusing on the people, places, and events of the local community and promoting what makes La Mirada a great place to visit or call home for families.
